Do I get paid for attending New Employee Orientation?
You are paid eight hours per day for completing NEO.
When will I get my first pay check?
You are paid on a bi-weekly basis. GHS does not withhold any initial payment from your first check. Your initial pay date depends on the date you attend NEO. Talk with your NEO facilitators to determine your initial date of pay.
Do I get an actual pay check or a pay stub?
Pay is directly deposited into the account you provide to Talent Acquisition and Advancement when you begin work. You may view and/or print your pay stub on-line via eNet. Information about eNet and how to access eNet will be covered during your orientation.
When will I get my ID Badge?
Badge pictures are made during NEO on the first day. You will receive your badge by the end of Day 2.
How will I know when to report to work after New Employee Orientation?
You should contact your manager to know exactly when to report for your first day of work and the time you should report. Some of you will attend Nursing Orientation immediately following NEO and will receive additional information.
Will I meet my manager during New Employee Orientation?
On occasion, managers or a designee will visit with new employees during NEO.
What if I have an Emergency and need to leave Orientation? Can I still start to work as scheduled?
You must complete both days of NEO prior to attending further scheduled orientation or beginning work in your department or unit. Emergencies are handled on a case by case basis. If you need to reschedule, contact your Talent Acquisition Partner to let them know as soon as possible.
Can I leave New Employee Orientation for a planned appointment?
Because of the importance of NEO, attendance is required for the entire two days. Appointments should be scheduled before or after NEO.
I am PRN, do I have to attend the entire two day program?
Yes, all new employees, regardless of employment status, attend and complete NEO.
What do I do if I get sick?
If you get sick and are unable to attend NEO, please contact your Talent Acquisition Partner. At that time, they can help schedule you for another session. If you become ill during NEO, report to Employee Health Office and a decision will be made accordingly.
If I am running late for NEO, whom do I contact?
Please call (864) 455-6100 and press 9. If no one immediately answers the call, please leave a message.
What do I do if the roads are icy and I cannot get to NEO as scheduled?
In case of inclement weather, call 455-NEWS (6397) and listen for a message specific to NEO. Instructions will be given about attendance at NEO. If there is no message specific to NEO, then it will be held as scheduled. However, if you determine it is not safe for you to travel, please contact us at (864) 455-6100, option 9 and contact your Talent Acquisition Partner.

What do I wear in my work area?
GHS has specific policies for appropriate attire based on job roles. Finding out what to wear to your work unit is an excellent question to ask your manager.
Does GHS pay for my uniforms?
GHS does not pay for your uniforms.
You may elect to have the cost of your uniforms deducted from your paycheck. This deduction may be spread over a maximum of four pay periods. Payroll deduction is available only through Gantt’s Uniform Shop.
How do I know what color scrubs to wear?
Your manager can tell you the exact color of scrubs to wear. Gantt’s Uniform Shop also has a list of the appropriate scrubs and colors for various GHS departments.
Do I get a uniform discount anywhere?
Gantt’s Uniform Shop offers GHS employees a 20% discount on uniforms and 15% on shoes and accessories.
Some departments also offer a voucher for specialty shoes required for work. Please talk with your manager to determine if this is applicable for your department.
